I love how the dog acts as something of a metaphor for Scotland Yard, Tommy basically responds to ‘Scotland yard does what we say’ with ‘fine then go ahead and try using them on us’

Tommy asking state breaking questions, as when u listen and respond continuously to someone often powerful, it is perceived as if u own them explainations and therefore they have power, they are the one asking the questions, Hughes trying to threaten his sister and he only care about the dog's name, that's some stoicism and strength there
