LGR - Battlezone - Arcade, VIC-20, PC, ST Game Review

It's Arcade August on LGR! First up is Atari's Battlezone, the first-person perspective tank combat game with vector graphics and a sweet dual joystick cabinet.

So glad I just found this channel. I haven't seen this game since I was around 5. It used to be one of my favorite computer games when I was growing up.

You blew my mind with this one! Battlezone was the first arcade game that I ever played...back in the day when arcades had ash trays on the cabinets! There are five Fridays in August this time around brother. Does that mean that we have four more arcade reviews coming our way?

Damn, why didn't I get Battlezone on the Vic back then, didn't realise it was such a good version, instead spent my Vic days playing Paratrooper, Blitz, Trader and other such games...all cool games of course. Thanks for posting the video, great as usual.

There's also the Microsoft Arcade floppy for Win 3.11/95. It was damn close, and also had Centipede, Tempest, and other greats on it.

Atari came out with a couple follow ups in the late 1990's, Battlezone and Battlezone 2: Combat Commander. They were a unique blend of FPS and RTS. Like C&C meets the Battlefield games. Battlezone 2 is still my favorite LAN party game.

I had the Atari 2600 version of this game when I was a kid...I remember it having fog and snow that would effect visibility. Pretty cool game.

I actually really liked the PC "re-something" of Battlezone that came out for Windows. . . The first one was great, especially how they mixed a "Command & Conquer" game with Battlezone... And add multiplayer... And 3DFX graphics!

I'd love to eventually see your thoughts about the 1998 offshoot Battlezone that paid some homage to the original in the opening cutscene but was a very interesting beast entirely. Combining first person tank warfare with a real time strategy layer.
