"I can afford the payment" is a HUGE problem in my extended family. They legit don't think they are in debt because they don't have credit cards and aren't behind on their cars, camper, boat, tractor, and house payments. It's incredible really.

My parents didn’t pay for my college. I went to 2 year community and then university. Stayed home during that time. I worked my way through college and I never took out student loans. That’s the solution. 17:40

It’s the first time I heard you say this Dave but it hit hard. When you pay attention and be conscious about every time you click buy or spend some cash. Pay attention to the money you have coming in and every dollar going out. That’s enough to jump start your good decision making with money. To me $400 in my account was the same as 0 so I would spend to zero every week and that’s how you get stuck pay check to paycheck. As soon as the word budget becomes important to you the saving begins.
