I can speak of all that I missed while deployed over my years of service. Birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, the birth and death of my son. For me it's the dedication to God, country, family and the heavy heavy sacrifices freely given by my wife. While deployed I was surrounded by my second family, my unit. With every PCS my wife found herself alone in a strange place to maintain a household and raise a family. When my son came into this world she was alone. And when he passed from this world she was again alone. She too has passed. I feel that I truly did not express my appreciation, my gratitude or my love for her in the time we had together on this earth. My God is the God of the living and I know we will be together again. In the meantime, I love you Beth and I wish I had done better by you. Give thanks to all the wives and husbands who sacrifice so much in and for the defense of this Nation, past and present. They too are to be commended for their dedication to duty. Sharp hand salute!

All I have to say, is the fact that is I'm sorry but the 1.5k people who put thumbs down, I just have one question. Why did you? Have you never lost someone, or realized how many young men and women are fighting for this country that we all take for granted. Without them, our country would be a huge warzone. So next time that one of you puts a thumbs down, before you do, realize your freedom is because of all of those brave young men and women on the front lines fighting for their lives to save yours. Some come home but some don't. Imagine being a parent, a mom, dad, daughter, son, grandma, grandpa, a niece, a nephew, and getting the news that one of your family members is not coming home from active duty. Bet you would feel really bad.
