fun fact: smoke shells of this type use white phosphorus, which while producing lots of smoke also sends out lots of extremely flammable solid bits. if left to burn, they can burn right down to the bone and are technically banned under the Geneva convention. it was fairly common for allied tank crews to shoot WP at german tanks, as it would cause hot smoke to fill the turret when sucked in by the ventilation systems. So yes, smoke shells can destroy tanks with exposed crew, or cause a tank to be abandoned by causing the crew to panic.

I wish smokes of larger guns would make larger clouds with more coverage. When I fire a 152mm smoke I expect it to have a larger effect then a 75mm smoke.
