A lot of people forget about the armor abilities that you get from having 3-5 pieces of said armor as well

I love how these MHW guides come back.

Something I've seen people not be aware of since the original release is that you can get monsters to break their own parts during a mount. You have to hang out on one part until they go over to a wall to bash you off then switch once the animation starts (they also flinch themselves). Do that 3 times and the part will usually break & since they flinched themselves each time you can end with a mount finisher. I would note that the parts I primarily see breaking from this are backs (like on Rathian, Rathalos, Pukei & Zinogre) and wings (Teostra, Lunastra, Kushala & Velkana) but even if the part doesn't outright break it still does some part damage, and if you're playing solo & want part break rewards but use a weapon with bad hitzones on/difficulty hitting a part you can soften them up/get them for free even in base world where you don't have tenderized wallbang shenanigans to break tougher parts quickly.

Tip, bring stun resistance if you can. Also pay attention to your Elemental resistance. Increasing the Elemental resistance will lessen the application/time of a specific blight or even nullifying a blight entirely.

Small tip that's not shared enough- when the hourglass icon appears when you finish a quest before you see the end rewards press "Start" (the small button above A for Xbox or Triangle for PS) to start moving your character sooner to carve or gather before the time runs out.Sorry I don't play PC so I don't know what acts as the Start button on that (PC players please chime in 🤗)

Here's another very important tip for World/Iceborne: Unlike Gen Ult or Sunbreak monster pin attacks are un-blockable even with the guard up skill (an Uragaan set and end game deco exclusive that lets you block zeno/Saffi's beam attacks which can't normally be blocked) so watch out or make sure your defense is high enough to survive the attack

I mained Lance all through World and Iceborne the first time, then I mained Hunting Horn for Risebreak. And now I'm back to Lance. I love my pointy monster poker. Call me The Flying Lancer because I spend half my hunt mounted

I love how there are lots of videos coming out about world/iceborne like the game just got released. Keep them coming, I love this game

Trying multiple weapon classes is soooo important, they each teach you different aspects of the game and once you learnt them all you are much closer to being a beast, my theory is that players like CantaPerMe's secret is that they play many different weapons all the time

About utility skills: in my opinion, one of the best skills is „Free Meal“.
Try getting it to max wich consults in 75% chance of not consuming most consumables.
You can just stop using potions and megapotions and only use Maxpotions (also take the ingrediants to craft more with you)
For example when i fight fatalis i can just heal with maxpotions the whole hunt… also saves you alot of materials with megademondrug etc.

I have 1000 hours and didn't know about mount slinger attack, slide animation skip, torch pods clearing effluvia / watermoss clearing slime from monsters and part break damage from flinch shots

As a vet. The slide jump attacks are a great way to obtain the mount. As a Swaxe main I can't stress enough you how useful this is against monsters that you're miss matched against.

Yeah, I guess trying other weapons is the best advice - since I main SnS as I love paladin sword and shield aestethic I recently decided to try charge blade for Return to World and I gotta say, gather vials - charge shield - gather vials + sword charge - BOOOM flow of the hunt with extra defensive utility of side hop, evasive strike and shield is quite satisfying and serves as an extra way to keep the game fresh for me which is the most important thing, to have fun hunting.

Trying out different weapons can also make the game feel fresher if you're starting to get burn out. That's what happened when I played MH3U

To tack on to the tip about using traps for purposes other than capture, in Master Rank depending on how much energy the monster has it will break free a lot faster than in Low/High Ranks. Plus utilize the poop, trying to hunt/carve/capture a specific monster without being interrupted or having your trap wasted can be difficult especially with a Tigrex or Bazelgeuse around.

About 19, I'm almost certain that you can generally get it from any Butterbur patch as a rare drop. Since I recently got it while collecting butterburs for that MR1 Quest. Obviously as a rare drop its not guaranteed (unlike the method shown shown by Cotton I'm guessing), but rare drops are much less rare in Master Rank as far as I have seen, so there's a good chance of getting that by just doing the Butterbur quest a few times.

MASSIVELY timely. I stopped playing a few years ago and just started a new playthrough with my friend yesterday. Literally forgot the MHW specific mechanics. Love it. THANK YOU! HAPPY HUNTING EVERYONE!
