As a kid in the 50’s & 60’s a local comedian/actor, business celebrity who went by the name of “Lippy Espinda” did tv commercials for his car dealership and at the end he would always say “Shaka Braddah” w/hand gesture prominently displayed. Not sure if he was the originator but he sure helped popularize this iconic symbol.

Finally no explanation needed...😮‍💨
All welcome to an illegally-occupied nation of Hawai'i. Queen Liliu'okalani has not only had been held hostage in her own palace, she even had to watch her loved ones die in front of her by the hands of her betrayers. No justice has been done.
Shakaz (3moji iz sooo wrong)...

Doesn’t seem like it- seems like he was a local on the island & this LDS Brother is simply sharing a short, factual story behind the hand gesture 🤙
