I like when Nintendo takes risks with characters, because of that, Toadette was introduced in double dash and became a very important character in the Mario series

Diddy was designed to be an updated Junior, but when given the guidance by Nintendo that the redesign was too dissimilar for that, he was renamed as his own original character. I'd like to see Junior make a reappearance if not a comeback, it's been a decade or two.
