It is always great to get information from a primary source like this! It seems almost a crime that important historical documents got thrown away, but that's how it goes. I'm just so pleased that Chris has retained so much documentation. I hope the CfCH can survive the current crisis, and would hope contingency plans are in place to send all relevant materials to the national archive should the worst happen. I know the archives are keen on covering many aspects of the micro revolution in the UK. To some of us who grew up during this time, it isn't so much like seeing the 10 commandments in the arc of the covenant, as an interview with the chap who actually chiselled some of them into stone!

It's good to hear personal accounts of this era of the UK computing industry and it's also good to know that these pioneers are now being recognised for their work. Let's just hope no more history of this era is lost to time. It always seems a shame that the Beeb never 'broke' America, Acorn maybe could've been another Apple.

An excellent insight into an important episode in the history of the computer age. One personal comment I take away is about CEI Part II (later EC Part II) which I have to explain every time on my own CV. My EC Part II followed my HND (all part time on day release) which included a 6502 board 'design, build and program' project that was helped along by my Acorn Electron as a host for the Assembler and a clock circuit cribbed from an Acorn schematic

Can anyone recommend a book about the story of Acorn?

So sad that ARM was sold off. It was a proper UK success story, and we don't have many of those any more. Such a waste.
