Pushing the Limits: RC Car Speed Running in the WET! Noob's Close Call & New PB! Rlarrlo AK917

Join me as I take my RC car speed running in the wet for the first time. I'm a total noob when it comes to speed running and this is only my second attempt. I'm excited to push my limits and see what my car can do after a few modifications.

At first, things go well as I navigate the slick surface and try to get a feel for the handling. But soon, I start to push too hard and end up crashing a few times. Luckily, my car is built tough and it survives each impact. Realizing it's not worth risking any more damage, I decided to wait it out until the track dries as the sun has come out and it's worth holding off for a little while.

Finally, the track is dry enough to try again. With renewed determination, I hit the throttle and put in some fast times. In fact, I even set a new personal best speed!
Join me on this journey of learning and growth in the world of RC car speed running. Who knows what new challenges and successes await in the future?

I would leave the light buckets in. It adds a little weight to the front. They make the body a little stronger and it makes the poly a little stronger. But do ur thing👍cool video I just hope we're going to get to see that thing moded all the way out before winter then u tell us it's going to be next summer😂😂

You wound down droop screws to get it lower? Now it has no forgiveness over bumps/those battery straps. The springs are too long if you can’t wind up the collars

Use fiberglass tape for the straps below the chassis.

Excellent vid mate. Currently waiting on parts before I can get mine back out. You are 100% correct all the extra stuff is not required on a car that’s sold and advertised as a speed run car.. we don’t need the fancy fan or lights on a car like this but I get it was done to look good.

This one had a lot of hype and has delivered to a certain extent but it’s by no means perfect out the box. Will these sell at the full retail price.. I’m in two minds..

Stick tape on the doesn't sound like you're too worried about the chassis scraping on the bottom so what is tape going to do just protect it😊

Good run in the end. Not sure what they were thinking with those battery straps.

Nice quality video, say the 120 A brushless waterproof ESC is the exact same as mine in Carbon Brushless, except mine is turned 180 degrees from yours (purchased 10/2023). I also notice that ESC is very fan loud. After turning it on, ESC get's to high fan before even driving it (runs fine). It might supposed to be like that, it's my first RC supercar so I don't know. It's very fast and handles well out of box for sure.

Scorched earth makes aluminum strap loops that bolt to your chassis.

In the case if 2.4G. Ideally the last approx 30mm of the antenna wires should match the polarisation of the antenna which is generally vertical. So they should form a vertical V. For single antenna wire Rx just need that last approx 30mm vertical. The Tx antenna ideally should be in a vertical orientation for max power, less attenuation and interference.

👏👏 In that configuration 72mph is quite amazing. Very well done. I don't think there is much more safely left in it without a few changes.

Could you weigh the wheels and discs and compare them to a foam replacement? I think the weight of ally wheels and fake brakes will really be hindering the car. Although they do look gorgeous. Torque reaction from the rotating weight will be affecting handling badly too.

I think twin aerials are better at 90 degrees to each other, so maybe put one through a bit of vertical tubing. That should increase accuracy and range quite a lot.

If glitching is even a possibility fit a capacitor to the Rx. Virtually no weight, very cheap and should eliminate problem.

Are you going to ROSSA this year Gavin? If so, see you there with my Tamiyas and my Buri. 🙂🙂

Hi Gav, Boingy, is that an actual word 😊lol

Carbon fibre is conductive so tying the aerial to that is a very bad idea. Your radio mod is the right way to go. 👍

Is this the same vehicle I've just watched Popalong RC crash on a speed run? 😉

32k gavin, nice! Great job as usual, some of the post recording voice overs lately, including the racing ones, work well. Difficult to record and race. ...lol

Have you done anything with the hotshot v2?

Well done! I am on the bubble about this car. The deal Rlaarlo is offering on this car is really once in a lifetime IMHO. I am seeing a number of YT Influencers getting these cars and I think it's great. Consumer information is abundant and from all the various YT channels we're getting a really good picture of what this car is about. I agree the tire wheel combo with the break assembly is just too pretty to tear up and they really belong on another car if your going to push into the 100mph club.
The RTR version would make a great first speed run car for those who are on the fence and haven't taken the plunge yet. The roller would be my first choice personally, I already have a speed run 10th scale project.
I would balance the tire/rims before I went all out. Are you going to use foams with the smooth dish rims?
I think your the only review with the car in the rain sofar. I leaving that in there was a plus.

The weight of the lights and wireing loom for the lights will be last, final considerations towards performance. Tire size, tire composition, gearing, motor, esc programing, all of these will be far far more important.
Also, in this weather you're driving in, wouldn't it be nice to see the car and it's orientation much easier from much further away, considering you have no gyro and aren't even passing 60mph? Over the difference of the weight of lights and wires?

would be great to see 4s with the speed pinion
