Well shit. Now I'm on the fence about whether to exchange/replace it or refund it... especially with word about a new MBP around the corner...

I've had this same laptop for almost 3 years now and it has had a lot of sound problems. The speakers blew, the headphone jack got messed up, one of the buttons on the touch pad is messed up. The dell I had before this one never had these kinds of problems.

these older xps 15 do suffer a lot from speaker issues, glad they improved it on the newer 2020 versions

My speakers are crackling as I am listening to this video. To all my friends who said "what do you see in Mac?! Get a Dell XPS": I tried OK?!. Back to Mac!

Dude I feel for you!, my XPS 15 Screen died after just 1 WEEK of use, I just got a refund. Still deciding what to replace it with.

I spend over $3, 100 for the big brother (Dell Precision 5510). Basically it is the same design as the XPS 15 but with more power specs... My problem was the screen (the top right corner shows bunch of dark lines that never go away). I realized this problem the first day I use the laptop which really makes me mad. Spending over $3k for a crappy machine is totally unacceptable! Although Dell has agreed to send me a new replacement, I am not sure if I should keep it after I do some search on the Dell XPS 15 and Precision 5510 reliability issue. Do you think I should keep or return the new replacement?

I have the same issue with mine, and am headed to replace the speakers. I have a total love/hate thing going with this computer. When it works, which is most of the time, it is an incredible machine with one of the best displays I've ever seen. But, the reliability.... woof, it has left me in a bind more than once.

I have one too. Ive been annoyed with it. I already had to replace the wifi card and now the speakers are giving me a hard time. Its not been a great experience spending so much on this laptop

dude same situation here for my XPS 15 (9550 -i5)....i actually replace speakers on that blew again in a month....then warranty ended. So still using blown speaker, because i read somewhere that the max audio shit is overloading the speaker. i tired to uninstall it but it will again automatically install through windows update. Also when pluging in headphones the audio won't switch to headphones i have to restart the audio service.

I love the laptop, however... First week the screen just died. Did an exchange. About a year later the speakers blew, and a year and a half in, I had a battery that was "swollen" to the point that it lifted the track pad. Although I was out of warranty I sent pictures to Dell, and opened a ticket (and of course expressed my fear that the battery might blow up), and they sent me a new battery. I didn't even bother with the speakers though.

Same problem here. Have you gotten any resolutions for it?

I do have it, too. Just open sound settings and put the left speaker to 50% or less and leave the right at 100 so they scale correctly. Or vice versa

Hey there, I had the same issue as you. Also the battery on mine was broken. It would just drop from 40% to 7% in seconds. I noticed this issue the first day I got it. Totally unacceptable so I sent it back. Do you use a Macbook now? I am more the PC guy and I really do not want to switch to Apple, lol. What type of laptop do you use now? And how happy are you with it? I would really appreciate an answer. Thanks a lot.

I had a tech come out and replace my speaker 3 times! Dell approved a refund after a year and no fix insight :( Combination of crap speaker and stupid Maxaudio software and also when unplugging headphones the sound would double...apart from that the laptop has been awesome and I am upgrading to the new one as it looks like they removed the suspect Maxaudio software and hopefully upgraded the speaker...will have to test in store :D

This seems like it may be an issue with the particular xps 15 you received. Considering you bought this computer, do you suggest this computer for anyone despite your hardships?

My warranty expired just 5 days ago, and speakers busted today. Coincidence? I see tons of reports on Dell XPS speakers breaking...seems like a knowingly defective product is being sold by Dell.
