GRAMMYs: Why Benson Boone’s Success ‘Doesn’t Quite Feel Real’ (Exclusive)

Body: Benson Boone chats with ET's Kevin Frazier on the red carpet at the 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards, which air on CBS and Paramount+ on Sunday, Feb. 2. The 'Beautiful Things' singer, who is nominated for Best New Artist, says his success doesn't 'feel quite real' to him. Benson admits when he did 'American Idol,’ he didn't know if he wanted to do music for the rest of his life, but now, shares he would be honored to be a part of that group of contestants who have big careers after the show.

It would have been beneficial if the interviewer had understood that Benson quit American Idol early in the competition to avoid being considered an Idol contestant who succeeded, like Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson.

I really really like him! He is an amazing singer!

I like his performances, his voice, his looks, that he is so humble and down to earth and i love „beautiful things“!
He is still so young and he would have it all to become a HUGE Star!

BUT!!!! The sad Thing is, that his other songs are just the average Radio music… 😣
They’re still good, don’t get me wrong!
But to become a really really huge star which he absolutely could be! You need to be „Special“ and have your own style! You need songs where people instantly recognise you! You need ro be „unique“! Every really HUGE Star has and had this!
Beautiful things is such a song! It’s a song where you instantly recognise his voice! A song that other peoples just can’t sing like he does it!
That’s why i thought he will become such a Huge Star, because i thought he will make songs that are unique like this!
But sadly he doesn’t…
He makes just good songs, but sadly nothing that’s „special“… they’re just the average radio songs that you hear alongside with all the other songs… 😪

He will definitely stay, because the other songs are not bad! That’s not what i am saying!

What i say is, he will not become the huge World star he could’ve become!
He would’ve the talent to become a world star like Elvis, MJ, Freddie Mercury, Elton john, prince etc.!
But with songs like his others, this will definitely not happen… he will just be a normal new Star like so many others…

When i first heard the song, i really thought, we will see the rise of a new king in the music industry! Sadly it isn’t… 😓
