Setting up ApiKey-based Authentication | ASP.NET Core 5 REST API Tutorial 24

Hello everybody I'm Nick and today I will show you how you can set up ApiKey-based authentication in your ASP.NET Core 3 or 2.2 Api. This is not a REST API specific thing and you can do it across any ASP.NET Core project. We will follow the very simple approach of using a custom attribute for this.

I really liked this video. It was not an hour long with a meandering dialog. It was concise and to the point. Also, mad props for not using some black box nonsense to obscure what was actually needed to get the task accomplished. IMHO: Sometimes installed packages take coders too far away from the actual code. Nick brings us right to the point and back. He does not paste large swaths of code in that make us have to disassemble it line by line. He types it in and talks about it while doing it, without going off the rails or speaking simply to add content of no contextual value!

Thank you for this incredibly useful tutorial. The other API Key tutorials I have read are overly complex and very disjointed. This was clear and concise. It allowed me to build the filter I needed to make sure my app was secure.
