A fascinating clip from a documentary of 1950, showing the construction of the Churchill Gardens Estate in Pimlico, London, and many of the old houses fronting the river Thames that it replaced.

In the view across the river from Battersea, All Saints Church can clearly be seen. This was built in 1871 and demolished in 1974.

I grew up in Churchill Gardens and it was a safe place. My great nan lived in the old streets that were there before

They have used geothermal heat to provide hot water for flats in Southampton for years. Can't understand why this has never been done elsewhere. Very soon all new build house will have heat exchangers buried underground .
