I went backpacking for a year and came back to more than half of my closet gone, and the worse part is what’s left behind are mostly just random old T-shirts and what’s gone are my thrifted gems/ handmade pieces that took me years to collect. :’) really gotta love moms

My mother did this so I would never do that to my kids. I always asked them to go through things and whatever they didn't use anymore to put into a pile for me to see to.

Bro... i was gone for a summer and came back home found my NY Yankees slippers missing. When I asked my mom where they were, she told me she threw them out. She said they were nasty--they were dark blue, and my white cat liked to lay on them--and I never used them. I started to cry, I was in my 20s, then by the way. Then, mumbling, I told her it was one of the last things Grandma bought me. She felt so bad she never again threw anything out that was mine. It was her mother, by the way. The last thing grandma actually bought me was a NYC snowglobe. A few years later, my dad accidentally knocked into it and broke it... also sobbed like a baby then.

Your worst enemy is someone who befriends you only to steal from you and then helps you find it.

My oldest daughter passed away when she was only 3yo, so ALL of my kid's belongings are PRECIOUS to me, & I'd NEVER part with ANYTHING special/loved by them without THEIR permission. Lucky for me, I'm raising very kind-hearted kids who LOVE to donate their clothes & toys to other kids whenever they're done with them. 🥰

My mom keeps throwing away my stuff and it's infuriating. I'd never do that if I had kids. I've literally panic searched the entire house trying to find things that were very sentimental/important to me, and she just nonchalantly says she threw them out. Like wtf mom. Couldn't you have asked? She literally threw away boxes of meds before, that I need every fuckin day btw, just because she didn't check the inside to see if there's anything in there. She's thrown away my books, collections, clothes, you name it. I hate it. This is just gross.

Never throw away anyone’s things without asking them, whether it’s your kids or partner.
Don’t assume they need it or not, it’s not your decision to make.

We don’t know how valuable something might be for someone else 💕

I told my mom that I didn’t remember what happened to my cowboy boots from when I was five. She told me that I outgrew them, and she donated them. I still can’t believe she got rid of them, they were a gift from my great grandpa. I told her she got rid of all of my stuff, that’s why I hoard everything now 😂

If I had all my toys and sports cards now that I had as a kid they would be worth a fortune

I don't experience this because I tell them the truth about what I did and am not afraid to be honest with them.
