The WJ was the most fun 4x4 I’ve owned, the sound and the low down torque of the 4.7 V8 is intoxicating.

I'm personally a ZJ guy but that WJ proved what the Grand Cherokees can do, especially for the money.

With a few tweaks my 04 WJ has surprised many. A small (3") lift, 32" tires and the factory Vari Lok in the rear with a TruTrac in front. 4.7ho keeps it running with the modern stuff speed wise. A WJ with zero issues...that really IS mind boggling.

I've owned both a 2003 GC limited V8, 2001 GC limited 4.0 i6, and 2009 VW Touareg 3.6 v6. All are very nice. The V8 GC has more power but not necessarily better off road than the 4.0. better than the Touareg off road but the VW is nicer for daily driving and more luxurious. Really depends on what you like. I can tell you the jeep is way cheaper to maintain.

Had a 4.7 Limited. Made me smile and had the comfiest seats I’ve ever sat in.

Not great on-road compared to the Range Rover it replaced, but never felt it would get stuck anywhere. I’d have another tomorrow.

The VW is awesome but if something breaks it's gonna COST you big!💸

I have to say that the WJ was by far my favorite Jeep. I had an 03 with the HO 4.7 and Quadradrive and it was as close to having lockers as one could get. The only downside is the 4.7. It had plenty of power, but the engines are really fragile...upper ring lands and timing chains failing are really common. Death wobble isn't nearly as bad as other Jeeps but still happens. I used a case of death wobble as a reason to put a 3 inch lift on mine which required all suspension parts to be replaced.

Quadratrac II is full time four wheel drive with a 52/48 % front to back power split.
2005 and up. 1999 - 2004 uses a Gerator with oil pump to put fluid under pressure to clutch packs to make sure both front and rear axles spin at the same speed. It also uses individual brake locking to send power from the wheels that slip to the wheels that grip.

These Tough T videos are actually what got me started searching for my own treg. Its a hard damn car to find for a good price these days but I got one and I have to say, its absolutely killed the trails. I took a much harder trail than what TFL do with a group and the treg was the only one that walked away with no damage.

I love this Jeeps, I had myself a 2004 V8, but it was constantly broken. Sold it after 2 year's.

It’s nice to see a WJ out and about! I have a 4wd WJ with the infamous 4.0l and I think it’s a pretty underrated jeep even though it doesn’t have a traditional boxy design

I got my red 99 for $800 no rust, had to rebuild the transfer case and replace a rear axel bearing and that is all, been driving it everywhere.
