dude, I love your way of keeping us into the video. You some how understand when you are about to lose some one and pull us back in at exactly the right moment. I need to know why something is important, if I have no idea how much I need to know which table has to have the Foreign key till later. I am doing an assignment for a class right now. I will have to figure out which entity has to point back to the other.

All my professor did was read from a powerpoint and give us quizzes. This is what I needed to understand!

A good real world example to explain PK and FK are an actual lock and key.

A lock has a single set of pins, but many keys can relate back to the pin configuration and open the lock.

Edit: I obviously mean a basic pin/tumbler lock here.

We dont call the relationship between the Primary Key and Foreign Key, Parent-Child relationship.


in the Parent-child relationship, child has "properties" from parent. while in database Foreign key refers to a values the Primary Key column.
