Hey guys! I discovered your podcast in March when we were planning our move to Florida from UT/AZ! (I love listening by the way.) A few things...

• The mid-afternoon rain storms are what clear the air and make the humidity and heat bearable. Contrary to what he said, I have actually found the hour rain storm to be a PLUS! It is 10 degrees cooler after the rain! We love those mid-day cool-offs at Disney. 😉

• Hurricanes aren’t as scary when you’re in Orlando because you’re so far inland. Definitely prepare for flooding & power outages. Other than that, we’ve been told by several locals that it’s just a bad rain storm.

• The love bugs are way worse in places like Gainesville. We lived there for a few months while my husband was in school on a clinical rotation and it was horrific. However, we were in Orlando at the same time of year the following year and I had ZERO issues with love bugs! I saw them occasionally, but I told my husband... “Wait, where have the love bugs been?” 😂 That also may depend on your neighborhood and how “swampy” it is/feels. More developed areas, not so bad.

• The 4 sucks so bad. Use those toll roads! Get the E-Pass. It’s better than all the other passes. (We had the Sun Pass and didn’t like it because it doesn’t cover all the toll roads.)

• The humidity is actually a BLESSING for the hair! I’m a volume girl for SURE... but my hair has never been this healthy or grown this fast! Learn some new braids and cute up-do’s and you’re golden. My girl over at Twist Me Pretty (YT and IG) has the cutest adult looks. (Braids aren’t just for little girls anymore. ;) In addition to that, I’m shocked at how well my hair actually holds a curl here with the right products. I have a lot of recommendations for that, haha! I will make another comment with those details.

• Find free beaches! We took a couple months searching out good beaches and finally found our favorite, which is free and the most beautiful. Ponce Inlet is a GEM. I highly recommend it! I was surprisingly disappointed with Clearwater and Coco. Too dirty and too many crowds.

All in all, you guys hit the nail on the head with #1 and #2. Starting over has been WAY harder than expected. But, we’ve been a “student family” our whole marriage, so this is our first time settling down for good. Missing family is also real. Moving to a vacation spot, you think, “Oh people will come visit all the time!” Ha, not during Covid! So, we look forward to future years when people feel more comfortable traveling.

Loved your video! Safe travels! And #disney4life 😉😁

Yeh, we took a tour of Austin, TX once thinking of moving to it. This local family was so nice and took us into their home, I couldn't believe it. Then they told us stories of scorpions and no grass in their yard. I was then, NO. Traffic is pretty much everywhere; the only thing is with Florida/ we've run into some palmetto bugs/roaches? Mosquitos; here they have lots of retention ponds so mosquitos are big thing in other places too. I think your decision of a screened in porch will be a great idea!!!
