I think the thing that makes it feel like Matt's would be
1: Scale length
2: Tune-O-Matic
3: Volume placement
Just what i think.

Maybe check out the Jeff Ling from Parkway Drive signature?
It's a lot like that E-II but with non reversed headstock and a neck pickup.

Very cool of your friend to let you show off his guitar for us! I have an M-I from 2016 that I picked up used and it's become one of my favorite guitars I own 🤘it was a model I had always wanted to own since I was a kid and saw it in a Musician's Friend catalog, then even more so when I saw Jeff from Parkway Drive playing them years later.

I know what you mean about the way it feels and sounds unplugged, too. Mine is super resonant and feels super sturdy. I've tried loads of different pickups in it, but eventually came back to an 81 even though I'm more of a passive guy. The EMG just seems "right" for this guitar and turns it into an absolute riff machine.

My main complaint with all ESP/LTDs have been the placement of the volume knob being so close to the bridge pickup. The way I play, I bang my pinky up against it every damn time and it drives me absolutely batshit.

Its a volute. Most all ESPs and LTDs have them now it seems. I love them too

For quite a while now, my Sunday routine consists of cooking breakfast for my family, which is every day, but sundays include listening and watching Rob's videos. You've been a favorite guitarist of mine since 2001ish when I discovered you guys on Farmclub playing Dead Inside. Flying out to ohio for the reunion shows was worth every penny and doing VIP. Thank you for being nice and taking a photo with me. Wish i could have done that with the rest of the guys.

I bought one of these a few months ago and it's easily the best playing and sounding guitar I own. It's so well made and is resonant like no other guitar I've played.

The old ESP logo version of that was my dream guitar, when I still played 6 strings. This still scratches an itch...
However, I'm beyond happy with my E-II Horizon NT-7B from 2015. Aside from the severely chipped paint, it still holds up like on the first day.

Riffs on point! You really can’t go wrong with the E-II’s, you can feel the quality in your hands. That said, the signature series and 1000 series I’ve played/own are pretty damn close.

@RobArnoldWorld Your videos are the best without a doubt, they only need one small detail to make them perfect and it is the following:

* Please use a caliper and measure the width of the Nut and 12th fret, as well as the thickness of the neck at the 1st fret and 12th fret.

It is something very simple to do and makes a huge difference, everyone who watches your videos can get a more objective idea of how comfortable the neck will be depending on personal preference.

- Many make reviews and say the neck is perfect, it is not that thick nor that thin, but it is more accurate to give the actual measurements and this way we can also see how tight the ESP specs or any other company are, since as we all know a millimeter seems like nothing to someone else, but it is a huge difference for us guitarists.

You can make a video measuring all your guitars and see which one seems most comfortable to you and which one you think is better in terms of comfort. cheers

E-II guitars are amazing, the craftsmanship and build quality are on another level. Theres nothing wrong at all with LTD guitars, they are great as well but the E-II guitars are a cut above. The newer ones now come with ss frets if you're in to that sort of thing. After playing one for a while you won't care what it says on the headstock, you'll just appreciate how good the guitar is. I have an eclipse model and just love it, I play that guitar the most. IMO it's worth the extra money, so if you can be patient and save a few more dollars I say go for the E-II, you won't regret it.

I ended up selling it because I am not a 7 string dude after all, but I had bought a 2024 Satin Black E-II Horizon 7 Baritone with EMG's and it was pretty sick. The quality was top level and it sounded great while still being pretty light around 7 pounds. Japanese craftmanship doesn't mess around!

ESP Original and E-II are MIJ. ESP USA is a totally separate thing. Great video!

The thing at the back of the neck is a volute, not sure if thats what you were referring to, or just the neck profile? It strengthens the transition from neck to headstock. Material is a bit thin there due to the truss rod
