The song stems from the days of the second vienna award, when Hungary was granted Northern Transylvania, and it is said that this song was written by a soldier who was stationed in the previously held Romanian territory. It is today still a song sung within the Romanian army.

Interesting fact:
The song is performed by the Men Chorus of Finteușu Mare, a village in Maramureș, which was formed on 1 December 1918, when the men from this village gathered to celebrate the union of Transylvania with Romania, that was proclaimed in the same day by the National Assembly in Alba Iulia, the historical capital of Transylvania.
The song also makes some references to two legendary patriotic songs from the Great War that were also dedicated to Transylvania. Through the verses: “Let's conquer what we have to conquer” makes a reference to the same verses of the song “La arme !” (To arms !), and the verses “We will cross the old border again”, makes a reference to the song “Treceți batalioane române Carpații” (Cross, Romanian battalions, the Carpathians).
