ARDUINO TUTORIAL 67: Create a Remote Controlled RGB LED with Brightness and Color Control

In this video we give you a homework assignment to build a dimmable LED which you control with an IR Remote Control. You should control not only the brightness, but also the color with the remote. The solution will be presented in Lesson 68.

You can get the kit I am using for this series at the following link:

I strongly suggest picking up an arduino nano, since it can plug directly into the breadboard, making a portable system more practical. You can pick one up here:

As projects get more complicated in these lessons, you guys really need to get a set of breadboard jumper wires which allow you to make neater connections on the board in your projects. You can pick a pack of these wires up here:

In addition as projects get more complicated, you are going to need a bigger breadboard. This is a reasonable one here:

Lesson 67 and I can't belive we are almost finished with these tutorials.. We still don't know how to use SPI or I2c components and it makes me kind of nervous knowing I have to go through many other tutorials that don't come any close to yours.. But still I've learnt SO MUCH and built up enough confidence that I feel like I can do ANYTHING. Thank you!

What a great teacher you are Paul. I have to say that after teaching STEM and STEAM classes since 2003, you've presented the best lessons (and I've sat through many, many lessons from other teachers). I teach my students a lot of logic and reasoning skills they can apply to their lives outside of electronics and science. I've been passing your lessons on to my students and am sad that I am about to do your final Arduino lesson. Of course, I started your Python lessons and will then do the rest of them. Someone asked me why, if I teach this stuff, that I still take classes and do your lessons? The answer is easy. The more you study, the better your get. The better you get, the easier it is to teach your students because you can use multiple approaches to the same subject matter. Your lessons are an island of logic and reason in a crazy world. Thank again!

Great assignment to finish this "most excellent" new arduino series!
I'll miss your amazing lessons, they have provided me with enough confidence to succeed in the next projects I face. Thank you, teacher, your work has been awesome!

Onto the next lesson! Will do this before watching the next video!
I participated in the Live Shop Talk you had yesternight Sir Paul, you recognized me!
Thank you for these homeworks, it solidifies our understanding on the new concepts and commands.
It improves our logical thinking and debugging skills as well!
Thank you for this Sir Paul!

After watching a few of your vids, I purchased a starter kit for my grandson, as he is interested in your channel, which seems very easy to follow. CHEERS, hope he follows your instruction... P.s He's only eleven, I just don't want him going on to coffee, especially the black SUPER JUICE!

Watched all of your tutorials in 5 days.... you got me high both on Arduino and caffeine and I'm loving both of them ✌️.. although I'm gonna skip the coffee for a few days to avoid side effects😵☕

I'm happy that, I have come across your videos. I've completed the series with in 3 weeks. Now, I'm gonna miss your videos.

Btw, I'hv modified this program (68). I have make it as, first you have press 'pwr' button to turn the led on. Then all the work is same. If the led is turned by 'fun' key, then button 0 1 2 3 4 5 will not work. Again you have turn on the led at first.

Great teaching Paul, you make it easy to follow, I only been in it a month and already built three projects. I 3D printed a Drag Staging light off Thingiverse he was kind enough to put the program on to download to make the lights work. I didn't have a clue what to do until I stumble across you, well got the lights to work using a Nano but having a hard time programing a ATtiny84 watched allot of videos but no luck .. love for you to do a lesson on programing a ATiny84 or 85 . Thanks again Paul for great Video lessons...!!

How about an iced coffe making tutorial. I desperately need that. Maybe that's why I find my assignments hard 🤔
