Researching microplastics and marine pollution: Steve Smith

Director of Southern Cross University’s National Marine Science Centre in Coffs Harbour Professor Steve Smith explains the opportunities for students wishing to pursue research in marine plastics and particularly microplastics, which represent one of the biggest marine pollutants today. An estimated 8 billion tonnes are discharged into the sea every year with predictions that marine plastics will eventually outweigh the volume of fish in the sea.
