The Great Attractor Explained

preview_player
Показать описание
There is something that is gravitationally deviating the Milky Way's path and pulling our galaxy towards it. Actually, that's rather a place. For billions of years, something known as "The Great Attractor" has been pulling us and about 100,000 of our neighboring galaxies closer to it. But what do we know about the Great Attractor?

Thanks for explaining this simply and succinctly without the hyperbole and problematic/incorrect analogies presented in most similar videos.

Thanks! Short, sweet, to the point, and on top of that really, really fascinating!

You are the only one who explain it properly . Thx.

This is very cool, I’m very interested in the big rip to.

i still think the great attractor is just an ultra massive black hole that is pulling everything towards its self, but who knows, space is still full of mysters. Could be that's something we already know about but just cant see it. Great vid btw.

Bring a whole new meaning to how meaningless our lives are.

Amazing short explanation! 😀 I’m no longer sad that The Great Attractor would end the Milky Way.

So what about Andromeda and Milky Way, are they not colliding? Do not many galaxies collide?

1:43 false. We will in fact reach the great attractor. You have a fundamental misunderstanding of what expansion is if you think it's destined to rip our local group apart.

Real short summary of a theory. The/A great attractor is not supposed to exist from what my small mind understands.

egads little brother.. these are getting better and better.. so good in fact that some of them need to be longer with more information in them.. the great attractor is one of them.. what about doing one on the big void now.. the one that Lawrence Rudnick and Liliya Williams from the U of Minnesota looked into.. look in the newest Astrophysical Journal. The gargantuan hole was found by examining observations made using the Very Large Array (VLA) radio telescope, funded by the National Science Foundation. in the constellation Eridanus, "WMAP Cold Spot, " is what it was called.. Well thanks my friend carry on be safe..

only if expantion remains with this Dark energy is not a fact, It´s only something calculated by the increase of the velocity galaxies clusters are moving away from each other.... so we don´t know if it is going to slow down or speed if Dark energy really exists maybe it can lose ´´energy´´ therefore lose this are all hypothesis and nothing more than that.... another hypothesis is that a Zone of Avoidance can be a drain to another universe and that it´s force in some part of the universe is so high that it puches galaxies with such a force and in such a high rate that can explain why galaxies clusters are moving away from each other.... like a water draining system in a gigantic scale that we just cannot see....

Maybe it is a stupid question but can someone survive? Yeah I know it is stupid but I am curious

One day people will laugh to that nonsence called spacetime expansion.

The great attractor is the center of our universe

This is my theoy everyone knows the big bang and how it created our universe what if the great attractor is what caused the big bang and it's a cycle that repeats itsel every trillions of years maybe more

Nah that fact is wrong, does the dark matter stops the 250 million years of cycle around the milky way?
