THE SUZUKI JIMNY 5-DOOR XL IS FINALLY HERE!!

Welcome to the WAY BETTER Suzuki Jimny, the Jimny XL (aka 5-Door). This mega cheap off-road SUV is way more practical than before, with an extended wheelbase, back seats and an actually usable boot space. It's also gotten somewhat of a facelift, and way more added tech for only $3,000 more than the 3-door Suzuki Jimny.

In today's in-depth review, we're going to see all the exterior changes, check out the refreshed interior and NEW rear seats, we'll also be driving and performance testing both the Manual and Auto to see which is better, while also testing the off-road credentials because they've been hit... So should you buy one? Let's talk about that!

Suzuki designed the Jimmy XL to be modified by buyers. Change the tire to balloon type one, put additional flood lights on top, even the fug lights. New front & back bumper support. Some awning the side, water tank at the back. I guess this car is meant to be modified.😊

Having owned an auto and manual Jimny, I'd take the auto for off-road capability. The gearing is high for offroad take off on obstacles(even in low range). In the auto you can really load up the torque converter which is needed in serious offroading when the engine is underpowered. Australia misses out on the better specs over seas

I bought the manual version and I love the thing, and unlike most of the over cars the Jimny is fun to drive

Even if its slow for the auto, my wife would still love it, people that want these Jimnys dont want a race/sports car.

I would like to have long 3 door, as I don't care about the back seats but more room in the back would be good. But so long, if I had to chose - the 5 door is a winner.

By the time the dealerships add their mark up this is no longer going to be a cheap car. Quotes going around are $42k. You can get a Tank 300 for a few grand more.

If they had given it more power or an engine better suited to the XL version then it would 100% be an option. But given the normal Jinny is slow. I can't imagine how painful the XL would be to road trip in let alone merge on to highways

If i wanted a sports race cqr would not be watching this review, we love Jimmy as it is, small classy 4x4. Sort of Mini Morris of the SUVs

I have the 3 door manual, and I’d swap the adaptive cruise control for the useless emergency braking system, which has a heart attack when there is nothing else on the road quite often. That is a solution looking for a problem.

Would 100% have the manual. It's a fun car, shouldn't have a crappy slushbox in it.

Seems like a good alternative to the 3-Door if you have a family, Im holding out for the 7-door though.

It's a good car overall especially for off-road.
But here in India practicality doesn't matter. Size of car and Power of car matter (mostly for those who don't have car and take knowledge from Instagram)

I could see one Jimny in your front and one in your back while driving. So there people fall in love with Jimny 😄

I went with the manual as I don’t city drive and adaptive cruise isn’t something I need. It is a slow car but it isn’t meant to be a sport car. I have a sport car the Jimmy doesn’t need to be a sports car for me at least. It is practical what I found is the soft suspension is really good on rough roads. Plus the rear seats are great if you have kids as they are higher and kids can see out the front. Sitting in the backseat for an adult is surprisingly roomy. I live in the country NSW it is great on our crap roads. On highway I haven’t tried yet but imagine slow but still manageable. It is a boat of a car around corners but most 4x4 are going to be due to suspension and height. It is a great little car, plus if you a tired of all the electronic nanny safety features it is really great, as it doesn’t have any. It is more for people who need a capable, reliable 4x4 and are happy to live with it being unpowered. It is excellent car to have if have a rural weekender on dirt roads or you are into 4x4 on a budget. Suzuki could have stuck a turbo on it but it was designed to be low maintenance or low tech.

I owned a 3 door Samurai and it was a simple, tough and reliable all purpose vehicle. It is great for what it is, but a slightly larger engine or diesel would be perfect.

They used the same front door in 3 door jimny which is long for easy enter in 2nd row but they could've shortened it and add more length in the quarter window making it look less weird.
