DIVERSE Adapting Forests to Global Changes

DIVERSE is a research project happening all across Canada that is about improving how we take care of our forests. The goal? To help forests stay strong and healthy in a changing world, while also making sure people support and care for sustainable forestry practices. In this webinar, we will dive into a novel way of managing forests called Functional Complex Networks. Don’t worry if you have never heard that before, we will take it one step at a time! To help attendees understand what this is about, we will also explore functional traits in trees and how they can be used to increase Canadian forests’ resilience; resilience being the capacity of a forest to absorb changes in the environment and to resist disturbances like forest fires or diseases without changing its functions.
