Can we cut the rope. If so then we divide each rope. The blue rope into into 4 quarter and the pink rope into 2 halve . Burn a quarter or blue rope to get 12.5 min and burn the half or pink to get 20.5 min

1. Fold (in half) the 50 min rope and ignite from both the ends > 12.5 mins.

2. After it’s done, ignite the 40 min rope from both ends > 20.5min

12.5 + 20.5 = 33

Easy:
-Half of the 41 = 20.5 *
-Half of the 25 = 25
—half of one of the 25 = 12.5 *

20.5 + 12.5 = 33 ✅

In this puzzle you cannot cut the rope as a more complete version will claim the rope burn unevenly and cannot guarantee same length will burn the same time

Im not quick but you really gotta use your mathematical reasoning skill for this one. I figured if you place the one end of the pink rope exactly right in the middle of the blue rope, and when you burn each outer end at the same time, you'll get 33 minutes

The equation t/41 + 2(33-t)/41 = 1, gives you the time it how long you need to wait after burning one end of the pink rope to burn the other end so that you it is burnt in 33 minutes. That gives you 25 minute. 25 minutes is the time it takes for the blue rope to burn half way.

I hope I'm not the only one that said twist them together😂

1. Burn blue one from two sides and the pink one from side

2. When the blue one will fully burn (25 min) the pink one will have 16 min remaining. So we lit the second end of the pink one in order to burn it in 8 minutes

25 min + 8 min = 33 min

I got a similar but different answer. If you take the ends of the 50 rope and cut the middle, you'll have two 25mins. Burn it for one minute (counted) so you have 25+24. The difference is now +8, so you curl the other rope to snip the difference in length. Now you should have double the reference for 33 minutes

50 ( burn from one side till it's half ie. 25 )
41 ( burn from one side till 50 mins rope become 25mins rope )
⬇️
25
16 ( still burn till it becomes half )
⬇️
25
8
=
33 mins

Thanks! This is really useful for a scenario where I have a rope that burns for 50 minutes and a rope that burns for 41 minutes, and I have to time exactly 33 minutes

I guess you've shown us the ropes now

That's a good one! I like these kinda of puzzles. Challenging but not impossible to the average physics and maths fan

1. Mark or notate the half way point on the blue rope.
2. Light both rope.
3. Once the blue rope is at that half way point, put both ropes out.
4. Note the halfway point of what's left of the pink rope, then burn till that point and done.

At the halfway point of burning the blue rope, you'll have burned for 25 minutes. 25 minutes off the pink rope is 16; burning the pink rope for half it's length at this point produces a burn time of 8 minutes, totaling to 33 minutes.

Lighting from both end won't just make it burn 2x faster, it'd be slightly faster than 2x

Just burn the blue rope on the 66% mark, one side will burn sooner at 17 minutes ans the other one at 33, also if you cant measure it, its just 1/3 so you can just fold it in 3.😅😅😅😅

You're wasting 3/4th of the blue rope, just take a fourth of the blue rope and half of the red rope. 12.5 + 20.5 = 33

When you say rope you sound like your hiding a New Zealand or Aussie accent with your R's.
