Attack mode is 1000% more fair than fan boost. Attack Mode has a similar effect to that of the Joker lap in RallyCross, which is a mixed surface circuit race where every drive must take a lap that is slightly more time consuming than the main course aka a joker lap. It allows for more position changes and more interesting racing.

My dad was one of a very small amount of people working at a car manufacturer called NIO that got free tickets to a formula E race all the way in New York with the NIO formula E team. he took me along with him and it was awesome.
