Meshuggah-Do Not Look Down-Johnkew Drums

I've played polyrhythms for a few bars before, but never have I played a song that was almost entirely a polyrhythm! And even more amazing about Haake's drumming is that it flows so well, that you don't even realize he's playing a polyrhythm. This one has long been on my bucket list, and I'm glad to have finally attempted it. Hopefully I did it justice.

I remember covering this song like 2 years ago and falling in love with the polyrhythmic groove. I'm jealous of that second pair of hats you used; it really improved the feel of the song. Great job, man. Something I really like about your videos is your placement of camera angles and how you light your kit. Those details really add a lot to the intensity of the song. Keep it up!

Recently subscribed to your channel. You're so talented and I love the covers you do. I'd like to see more Meshuggah and even more Tool. Animals as Leaders would be great as well 😂. Anything with awesome drums.

You've hit the nail on the head there about Haake playing so smoothly that you don't realise he's playing a polyrhythm. Gavin Harrison is another drummer who plays in many time signatures and does so with such finesse. And great cover by the way!

Awesome work, John. It's nice to see you grow and broaden your drumming spectrum from one cover to another. Love those off-hats and stack, sounds tasty

Wow, just wow. I literally was listening to this on my break today wondering how a few parts looked, and here you are covering it making it look easy. If one day I can play one Meshuggah track all the way through I'll be happy. Well except The Last Vigil, I can nail that song, the drum track on it is so flawless you don't even notice it. *tip of the hat
