Clan of Xymox, also known as simply Xymox, are a Dutch rock band formed in 1981. Clan Of Xymox featured a trio of songwriters called Pieter Nooten, Ronny Moorings and Anke (Anka) Wolbert. They gained success in the 1980s with synthpop/electronic dance music releases.

The band's third album, Twist of Shadows, released in 1989 and its successor Phoenix, were released by Wing Records, a subsidiary of Polydor Records/PolyGram. In the United States, these two albums created a cult following for the band. The first two singles taken from the Twist of Shadows album, Blind Hearts and Obsession proved college and club hits in the United States with Obsession charting on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart and both tracks hitting the Billboard Club Play Chart. It was the album's third single, Imagination (with Anka Wolbert on lead vocals), that brought the band the most mainstream attention, charting at No. 85 on Billboard Hot 100, generating Top 40 radio airplay and MTV rotation of the Imagination (Edit) single video. Twist of Shadows proved their most commercially successful album, selling more than 300,000 copies worldwide.

Though the band is still active and continues to tour and release records, of the original songwriters (Nooten, Moorings, and Wolbert), only Moorings remains in the band today. After the departure of Nooten and Wolbert in the early 1990s, their music turned increasingly goth.

The first upload that I made of this remastered video was done a few years ago. It was a rushed job and poorly thought out. As a result, I was not happy with it at all, telling myself that I would try again sometime in the future. The source file was such atrocious quality that the first attempt was a vast improvement anyway. After being forced to delete my youtube channel for reasons I won't go into, I put this video on the back burner permanently. I didn't see a reason to redo it.

Since returning to youtube I've tackled this job again and this time it's much, much better than it was before. It has taken me well over a week to fix this horrific mess. The video has had to be spliced into 25 parts and each section worked on separately before stitching it all back together again. Large portions of 'noise' have been removed from the video but not all of it, because removing all of it would have damaged the already fragile image detail. The horrible pink chroma mask that was butchering the video was removed and colors corrected. I've opted for replacing the ugly yellowish black and white sections with a more pleasant sepia color. The video is so much better now than it ever was.

Audio was dreadful quality and in mono. I couldn't get my hands on the video edit mix of this track, even though it exists on vinyl and CDS somewhere. I've mixed down my own video edit using the longer version from the album CD. Finally we have decent audio for this great video that everyone can now enjoy to the fullest.

I hope you all enjoy this 2nd remaster. It came out so much better than the first attempt a few years ago. Share the link with your friends and I hope it doesn't end up being blocked in your country.

This song came out when I was in High School. It changed my whole perspective on music. I would picture them creating this music in the basement of an old run down, never used Church somewhere off a beaten path. A music store called “Repeat The Beat” in Dearborn, Mi was playing it overhead one day back in 88 and I bought the album on the spot. It’s mysterious, moody, and artfully crafted dark wave. Oh, and I had a huge crush on Anka. I think I still do. Lol.
