"Chuck Todd asks New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern if America is still the leading democracy in the world. "
Ardern avoided answering the question, probably in order not to give offence.
USA is a leading power, how well it does at democracy is a whole separate question.

The answer should be a simple NO as America is not the leading democracy in the world and it’s notion of being exceptional is long outdated
