I wasn’t sure if we should conceptualize this clip as a “co-speech” gesture or a “silent gesture”. I suppose it is a “silent gesture” from the standpoint of the woman in the apartment, but it’s “co-speech” for us (the audience)? Nonetheless, there are also different types of gesture (e.g., beat, deictic, etc.). Hopefully I’ll be able to find examples of each and get them posted. In the meantime, can you think of any other video clips where hand gestures or talking with the hands is part of the humor/joke?
