Nice SUV. Sad to hear that GM is having reliability issues. I still have my 2014 Impala with about 90k miles on it and it’s been very reliable. I hate that they discontinued it.

I have one and the fuel pump went out at 19754 miles. It was under warranty but still a hassle. Mine is the same body style but a 2022.

The seats on my 2023 premier reduced my back pain to zero when driving.

What I like the best about Chevy and GM products, is they all use the good old hydramatic transmission. Most other car manufacturers they use the CVT transmissions, which should be a complete turnoff to any car buyer's. I know people out there will disagree with me, but all you have to do is look at the repair and track record of both transmissions. You will see that, the hydramatic last 5 times longer, sometimes getting over, 200, 000 miles, most CVT can't make it passed 60, 000. To make matters worse a shop will not repair a CVT, replace only.

I own a 2021 Equinox and also owned a new 2014 Equinox. Great affordable transportation. I have been driving Chevrolets since 1973. I agree with you, I am upset with GM going all on or nothing on EV's. I think the hybrid model would be perfect. Guess my next vehicle will be a Toyota Hybrid.

Good review. Thinking of buying the Premier Equinox. No interest in EV or hybrid.

All these complaints about small engines need to be addressed to the EPA that doesn't allow fun engines anymore and cracking on minimum MPGs.

I have to say I drive alot around NYC, and the Equinox is a wonderful, safe, comfortable , well handling vehicle. The tech is very responsive, and the seats are very comfortable and firm in the front and back.I cannot stress how safe the AWD is, and how solid a vehicle it is.Plusses far outweigh the minuses.

1.5 liter turbo 4!!!! Will these even make it to 100k miles?

You lost me on the review Bud. I'm not even looking at buying one. My wife is. The 6 speed transmission shifts flawlessly as per Car and Driver review. It's been around a few years. Braking is very decent for this SUV as well. JD power has the equinox reliability score at 91 out of a 100 which is an excellent rating. That is the top reliability outfit in North America. So that's proof that the owners are happy with their vehicles. The chassis is tight and playful According to many reviews from the major car magazines and independents, and it handles great. Spacious, safe and looks great. When you said economy car I have to disagree. That premium model at under $40K is not economy. You want an economy car, buy a chevy cruze or a Plethora of small hatchbacks or sedans from the major manufacturers. Perhaps you should look up some facts and include them in your reviews before you slander a good affordable vehicle.

First I would like to say thank you for sharing your experience! Secondly so sorry some folks are just not kind! I am leaning towards a Honda Crv- but mainly because I’m looking for a car that is reliable- has safety features- ages well, gets good mileage & has a great resale value in case I decide to trade. Great review! Thanks 😊

I agree about hybrids being the sweet spot. I own a hybrid and it gets better fuel mileage than my 1, 000 pound golf cart. Never could figure out why GM has avoided HEVs. Only problem with getting a hybrid is that demand exceeds supply in the extreme. Both Escape and Maverick hybrids are sold out for 2023 MY.

The French 10mm timing chains are an issue that they have failed to correct. I've seen a ton of these in the dealership service bays. Hybrid batteries will fail and the cars are worthless then. I'll take a V8. No way do I want electric motors in a car for primary drive.

Im looking at the equinox for my new car. I currently have a 2011 Chevy HHR and love the car. I need a more reliable car. My car has had 3 transmissions and 1 transmission repair very recently. I love the gmc terrain but can't afford that right now

As per David Letterman….And the number one reason not to buy a Chevy Equinox_ It’s made by GM.

I have been a chevy guy for years but will be one no more. I do not want a gas only car and do not want an electric only car. I see a plug in hybrid as the best choice at this time. So I am looking at the new 2023 Prius Prime as the car for me. The Prius is no longer ugly and that was the main problem I had with it. I think GM really blew it with their transition from gas to electric cars. All electric is just not practical until there are a lot more charging stations.

I agree with you on the drive train and engine. I currently own a Toyota and have owned 2 Hondas. I don't trust that GM can make a GOOD 4 cyl engines. Back in 1974 My mother had a Chev Vega, my dad had a Chev Impala, with a 350 cu in engine. The engine in the Vega blew up at 50, 000 miles the Impala engine craped out 10 years after at 180, 000 miles. GM, FORD and Chrysler don't make good small 4 cyl engines. The rest of the Equinox is a nice car, but I would never touch it with that engine in it! Put a Toyota or Honda 2.5L engine in its and then you have a reliable vehicle

Gotta disagree on the electrification bit. A normal hybrid I get, but plug in hybrids are seeing reduced demand worldwide for a reason. It sounds nice when you get the spiel from the salesman, but you start to notice the drawbacks as it really is the worst of both worlds. Either your EV is dragging around a gas engine/transmission/etc reducing it's range or your battery is low and the poor little gas engine is trying to move the now heavier car around while charging the batteries thus getting terrible fuel economy. A range extender plug in hybrid would be good as an option, however.
