This is why good mixing is important. I recall a similar thing happening when Adele performed "Skyfall" at the Oscars two years ago. Everything was bleeding together in a terrible manner. It doesn't help that you have backup vocalists who aren't comfortable with this style of music. Good song, just bad arrangement/mixing.
