What were your thoughts and feelings, when you saw that first stack? How epic is this?

You're absolutely right about the construction. I was in grade school during Apollo. We didn't see anything close to the development we are seeing now. It's public, is exciting, and awe inspiring. As a 40+ year practicing engineer, It's great to watch how engineering challenges are solved in real time. The documentary on the development of Starship will be fantastic.

About the photo: I bet 100€ on that the photographer had exactly this iconic photo in mind when he took that photo. It was also the first one that came to my mind when I saw the photo of the booster and the spaceship. Whoever the photographer was: Well done!

In Tim Dodd's interview, Elon pointed out that there are explicit catch points on the booster that are _not_ the grid fins as suggested in the animation.

A simple answer to the question "Why the interest in SpaceX and Starship ?" = If you were on an island in the wide ocean, and someone started to build a boat, you would be interested.
Edited to add the following more harsh (but true) comparison :
If you were on a sinking oceanliner without lifeboats, and someone started to build a raft, you would be interested.

I was a kid during Project Mercury. A lifetime of watching space exploration. This is really really cool and something I never foresaw.

A 69 meter tall booster? Booster 4 Starship 20? Coincidence? Yes, but someone up there has a sense of humor.

I’d like to see the starship eventually carry parts to space for an asteroid mining station! That’s what’ll propel us to multi planetary, and it’ll boost motivation.

You know of thought of the exact same photo of rockerfeller plaza when I saw the spacex photo of the super heavy and starship being joined. This is a truly monumental moment in our journey to becoming an interplanetary race.

Seeing spacex's achievements in making rockets really inspires technology that is currently still in a dream that can be realized by anyone who dares to start and doesn't give up.

Every time I think of Starship, I can't help but think of the ubiquitous "Conestoga Wagon" which, in our frontier days, made it possible for reaching and settling the American West. The Conestoga wagon was a simple standardized design made from inexpensive materials and was easily adapted to serve many purposes ranging from a boat to firewood. Likewise, Starship will serve the same functions for reaching and settling space and other planets and their moons, so it should earn and enjoy the legendary name of "Conestoga Starship."
