Turkey turns iconic museum Hagia Sophia into mosque

On July 10, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan formally converted Istanbul's Hagia Sophia back into a mosque. Hagia Sophia, an architectural marvel and a UNESCO heritage site, is now declared open for Muslim worship.
But the decision has sparked dismay in the international community as it was considered an emblem of Christian-Muslim co-existence.

Sultan Mahmoud didn't convert it to mosque. He brought the church from the patrons of the church with his personal money. It was his personal property. Then he donated his personal property to the people so that it is used as mosque.

That is a monument in their own country. So it is up to them whether they turn it into a mosque or not. Interfering means challenging their sovereignty.

Hagia Sophia points towards Jerusalem and there is nothing anybody can do about it. Erdogan's signature is just on a piece of paper worth nothing in the eyes of God. Keep kneeling at the feet of a Christian church. This is what you should do. Keep kneeling at the feet of Hagia Sophia. Keep kneeling there. This is what you should always do.

Many indian liberals are arguing against Turkey's decision in comments 😂 They supported taking away Babri masjid for building ram temple. Why the double standards ? Anyway, Hagia Sophia was a mosque before it was a museum. It was bought from the Christians by Sultan Mehmed using his own welath and he gave it away to the public to pray in it. Numerous mosques were also converted into cathedrals in European countries, who will fight for them to be given back to muslims ?
