There is a huge level of complacency when we are playing teams that are lower in comparison to our stature. This superiority complex or overconfidence will continue to creep in against big teams and this presents a potential huge loss against a top team.
The players need to display the attitude to put in efforts and destroy teams irrespective of the opposition team's image. This problem has been going on since Jose's 10th finish in 2015 and that is why there have been some shocking losses to unexpected teams.
Long contracts have somewhat sucked out the motivation for the players to work hard and win trophies. That is why freezing out the players from 1st team kinda looks like the only option to counteract against long contracts.
Players have to inculcate the attitude to constantly improve game on game and give respect to each game equally. Mudryk is going to be a huge issue. 70 + 30 mil was his deal. Luckily, I don't think that his add ons are going to be paid. He needs a loan to Dortmund or Leipzig to flourish.
