The all-new Hyundai Staria has replaced the low-profile iMAX as the Korean brand’s people-mover in Australia.

Wrapped in a futuristic body that accommodates up to eight in comfort, packed with technology and available in three well priced equipment grades powered by diesel and V6 petrol engines, the new Hyundai Staria is also surprisingly good to drive.

But should this big, futuristic mum bus gazump the Kia Carnival, Honda Odyssey, LDV G10 and Volkswagen Multivan at the top of shopping lists for people-mover buyers? Join Feann Torr to find out.

Driving this for a week. What a value for $
Previously drove Mercedes suv & sedan, Prado.
Great functionality and technology make a big different.

Totally missed the mark with not having the seats fold for a full flat floor like the Carnival. Yes they fold flat but kind of useless for transporting large items when there's a foot step up halfway along...

On Monday my pop is going to Hyundai dealership because we actually might be buying a stereo and we are going to look at a Santa Fe and a Palisade so I’m excited

I rented and drove it on the Great ocean road, 8 passengers on board, during the xmas vacation 2021. It exceeded my expectations in many ways. Very easy to drive. I saw few curious people on the road taking its photo. Only suggestion is that the brakes can be sharper.

So Many people are buying these in South Africa. I have seen 3 on the streets over the past 4 days. I want one so bad!

60K and no arm rests for the driver or passenger, and no child seat anchor points in the rear is a massive fail. Apart from that it's awesome, an electric version would be good.

It handles well because it’s based on an SUV - never thought I’d hear that! If there’s a plug in hybrid option coming I’d think about it. Great for mountain bikes and dogs… can you take the third row out by the way?

I hope they make it electric and also change the color to something similar to what ioniq 5 has. 🙂

No front armrests !? That'd drive me mad. Only 3 years warranty V Hyundai standard car warranty of 5 years. None of the pockets storage are lined so they would rattle around constantly. Seats don't fold individually or flat, so what is the point of the size ?

Hi. Thanks for the review.
You mentioned the Toyota Tarago as an equivalent vehicle, however I can find no such vehicle on the Toyota Australia web site. Is this a vehicle to expect in future?

I LOVE the simple futurism of it !

Suddenly, every other Van looks ugly and old fashioned !

Looks like a concept car that was imagined back in the early '90s, kinda like it....

Updated version of Delica . 2nd and 3rd rows are so bland compared to VW and Kia .

The second row seat let people down if compared with Odyssey and carnival
