I am very impressed with the new release of the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray of The Thing. This cult classic is almost 40 years old now but looks amazing. Universal did a really good job with an excellent native 4K transfer and HDR10 grading. This is one of my favorite horror movies of all time.

In remote Antarctica, a group of American research scientists are disturbed at their base camp by a helicopter shooting at a sled dog. When they take in the dog, it brutally attacks both human beings and canines in the camp and they discover that the beast can assume the shape of its victims. A resourceful helicopter pilot (Kurt Russell) and the camp doctor (Richard Dysart) lead the camp crew in a desperate, gory battle against the vicious creature before it picks them all off, one by one.

That scene disturbed me because Windows was still alive...burning alive while the Thing was digesting and taking over him. You hear him in agony. Shitty death, man.

I love Palmers look right before they test his blood, that basically says "Well I'm caught."

I love all the red herrings they throw in, like Windows giving a sinister stare at 2:08 just to put you on edge as to who really is the thing
