Korean Scientists Claim Superconductor Breakthrough | Vantage with Palki Sharma

Scientists from South Korea are claiming to have developed a superconductor material that works at room temperature. The material, called LK-99, could revolutionize power transmission, battery life and computing.

Labs in China and the US have begun verifying the claim from South Korea. If proven, how important is this invention?

Why are superconductors so important? Palki Sharma tells you.

Not an easy subject to talk about but you done it well, whoever supported you preparing this material should be recognized/appreciated. Well done!

The present superconductors works at extremely low temperature or high pressure. The LK-99 claims to work at room temperature and normal atmospheric pressure. If successfully reproduced in other labs in the world, it would be revolutionary discovery in science.

Correction: Semi conductors are confined to low-voltage electronics components only. Hi voltage electric current is transmitted through Conductors - not semi conductors.

semi conductor is used to making logical gates, whereas superconductor is in comparison with a conductor with less resistance which reduces wastage during transmission

Madam Palki, Conductor and not semiconductor is used for electrical transmission. Semiconductor is used for digital logic and memory only.

Wow, super conductor... what’s next with technology... good job South Korea 🇰🇷

The strength of Phalki's presentation is her research team. She can talk Biology, Chemistry, Maths, physics, sport, entertainment and politics that you wonder what did she major in? Add to that is her fluency with the english language. You hardly hear the strong hindi accent that you get from the majority of indian journalist.

As an engineer, I think it's too simple to be true. I want it to be true and I hope it is true, but deep inside you know things like these are not that easy to create, unless of course I am wrong.

Palki's ability to dumb things down is amazing 😂

Instead of traffic signals, the correct analogy is friction and wind resistance.

The problem is that it's daytime now and many haven't woken up from sleep. Most people who do not see the business opportunity.

India already has superconductor. Rajnikant, was a conductor in Karnataka transport, and he was a super.

Palki you mentioned drawback in semiconductor is its resistance to flow of electricity at certain conditions and superconductor overcomes the resistance problem. If resistance is everything why can't we use conductors like copper in place of semiconductor? Infact we do doping in semiconductor to increase its conductivity to certain extent and not in excess. Semiconductor can store information and has amplification ability that's makes it distinct. Your resistance concept seems to be out of place.

The success of the development of superconductors will serve to mark the beginning of human development

As superconductors normally needs ultra cold temperatures to make the material less resistive, because the physics conditions the current materials imposes, a material super conductive without low temps seems like a scam from a random university that cannot be replicated... but let's see the type of magic they've done. 🤔

There is a wrong statement @ 02:05 Power grid transmission does not use semi conductors, but it use conductors. And it use property called admittance, not resistance.
So with current technology used, if the new invention of superconductor is in semiconductors, it will not help for power transmission, but can help in technologies like electronics/control system/ AI….
