Under the direction of Laʻakea Perry, the kāne of Ke Kai O Kahiki performs "He Aloha No Nā Pua".

“He Aloha Nō Nā Pua” was the first mele performed by the hālau in its very first appearance in the Merrie Monarch Festival back in 1979, when the hālau first began under the direction of Na Kumu Hula Thaddius Wilson and O’Brian Eselu as “Nā Wai ʻEhā O Puna.”

The interpretation of the mele and accompanying movements embodied the vision of these found Kumu and set the standard for their style of hula kāne. The choreography will be presented exactly as it was in that original performance 42 years ago.
