3-Year-Old Girl Dies in Hot Car With Mom Passed Out Drunk: DA

Ily Ruiz died last Friday after a family member found her and her mom unconscious in their SUV near their home in Anaheim, California. Police said Sandra Hernandez, Ily's mother, was found in the vehicle with her daughter and empty alcohols bottles. Hernandez now faces criminal charges. When my son was a toddler, we kept car seats in my car and his mom's car. Even when I didn't have him, I consciously and unconsciously looked in the back seat to see if he was there. Every time I got out of the car, I still checked the back seat, even when I 'knew' he wasn't in there. I wouldn't even leave him in the car to take packages inside the house first, he always was the last in, and the first out.

Alcoholism...I couldve been this woman..Im 6.5 yrs sober..Im NOT defending her..I was babysitting my bf's 2yr old GrandDaughter & we had an inground pool & we always had the french doors open & I blacked out..memory wiped clear..I woke up in the back bedroom in the dark with the child's Mom at the foot of the bed & I shot straight up in bed & said-Where's Lilah?! And she said-Right next to you..Omg the relief!!! She could of drowned in that pool but instead she followed me to the back bedroom & fell asleep next to me!!🙏🙏

The sickest, saddest part of all this is, she was a big campaigner against drunk driving after losing two kids to a drunk driver.

And then she turned around and became the very thing she hated, and killed her daughter in the process.

Oh my gosh. No matter what, this is absolutely heartbreaking and tragic. The first two deaths were not her fault and those deaths led her down a dark spiral that led to her third child’s death. It’s completely sad all the way around

The fact she turned to the same drug that caused someone else to kill her boys is beyond words. Losing her boys was an extreme tragedy and you'd think she would have wanted to do her absolute best to protect her baby girl at all costs. SO messed up! My heart goes out to the father. <3

I understand being hurt by the loss of her older kids, but why put your other baby in danger? She could’ve left her with a family member if she wanted to drink. Her family should’ve helped her get counseling or something to cope with her loss in a healthier way.
