Let me explain, in the manga the berry rod which later appears in volume 7 was created by the girls combining their powers
In the anime Ryou developed /gave ichigo the weapon.
In the manga the girls combining their powers creates the strawberry bell version up which here was changed into a rod.
Following this logic the mew berry rod will also be created by the mews like the manga. Instead of ryou giving it to her

I need something explained to me. I watched a group attack video from the 2002 adaptation where it looked like the other girls could still use their weapons while Ichigo used Strawberry Check Surprise. So, is the attack not them combining their powers in the 2002 anime??
