I idolised this man. What a brilliant mind he had. I’m 17 now, studying physics with the ambition to follow on to a course in Astrophysics. The wonders of the universe excite me, and new discoveries thrill me. This man has contributed so much to the physical field, the human race and to me, on a personal level. I can’t express the sorrow I feel now. Rest in peace Stephen Hawking. You were a true inspiration to me. You have left a great mark on my life and I am forever grateful. I will continue to look to the stars, and pour my life into the mysteries of our universe. All because of you. Thank you.

It's an honour to have lived on earth the same time as him. Stephen Hawking proved there are no bounds to human endeavor. He taught us to reach for the stars, and in doing so his star burned brightest of all. The world is a little less bright today. RIP Stephen Hawking, Rest now.

What I respect most about Stephen Hawking was the fact that life dealt him a bad card, and he persevered, moved forward, and contributed so much to humanity. I often contemplate "what's the point of trying so hard in life when we're all going to die in a hundred years time"... Then I see men like Stephen Hawking, who give 100% of himself to his craft, in spite of the terrible life changing disease he was impacted with.

Truly, it wasn't just Hawking's enormous IQ that made him unique, it was his attitude, his entity that transcended his disease, and made him one of a kind.

Rest In Peace, you will be sorely missed Mr. Hawking.

i wanted to meet him
that won't happen now but remeber Stephen Hawking would not want us to be sad, no he would want us to continue his legacy, first it was Albert Einstein now Stephen Hawking, Did any of you realise that its Albert Einsteins birthday and PI day it will now be recognised as all three making it a truley depressing and joyful day. Stephen Hawking will forever be known as one of the greatest scientist ever

When I heard about his death I was really sad. He was one of the best and bravest men I have known. His life optimism, confidence and a power to give motivation to other people.... I will miss it all. Thank you for everything.

I’ll admit I cried that night. This guy is a big reason why I’m a physics degree student right now. I remember I found out he died at 12:08 am on March 14.

I was and i am totally shocked as i heard the sad news of the passing of professor Hawking.
I rad in the age of 14 his book "A brief history of time" ("Eine kurze Geschichte der Zeit" here in germany) and was fascinated of his work and mind.
I followed his career the last 26 years and i'm so thankful for all his work and that he let us follow his brilliant mind and explained the wonders of the universe in so simple and understandable sentences.

Thank you, Professor Hawking and may your soul rest in peace. And i send all my good wishes to his family, friends and colleagues at Cambridge University.
