Tip #5: I’ll never forget reading one of my student’s research papers about how women are perceived with and without make-up in society. Women are perceived as MORE COMPETENT when they wear make-up and less competent when they don’t. I am not a make-up wearer, but I will definitely be applying when making UGC!

Great tips for UGC creators! A good hook and aesthetics are everything. Have any of you guys heard of the boost app social? It’s got some cool features to improve content creation for social media. It’s got templates, writing tools, and stuff to make your bio, caption, and description better.

I'd like to add that even though we want UGC creators to be presentable and aesthetically pleasing, they should still feel homely/organic/authentic.
I feel like a lot of time, creators try too hard to sell the product, which goes against the grain of UGC...

So a final tip to add would be to check your tone.
Listen to yourself after filming, and then reshoot or take notes based on that. Would you buy based on that testimonial? Why not? etc.

Great video - learned a lot! I’m a former news reporter who has been doing VoiceOver and corporate video for a while. Just stumbled onto UGC work and I LOVE it! I feel like it is the perfect fit for the skills I already have. Little tip → Rename each of the video chapters so that they describe the tip. The simple numbering is of little value to the viewer. The chapter markers are also likely not getting picked up by YouTube (and google) SEO.

Another important tip is to shoot lots of product b-roll. And depending on the product, in different locations. Makes for many more options in your edit or compilations. And finally, get some stills or clips that can be used in stills (ie smiling to camera with product without talking)

Lil tip for you, FCPX has a built in effect to combat the HDR colour issue. It's called 'HDR tools', lol. Just test what mode makes it look the most natural, usually HLG to Rec. 709 SDR works the best.
If by anychance you get another UGC creator send you footage, and they used the HDR setting.
