Soooooo I decided to transform my setup again... This time with a focus on upgrading my desk situation. So I built my first DIY floating desk (so I can finally see my PC now!), but also added a new monitor and of course, more LED lights. I believe the solution to the rough edges when you cut the butcher block is to put tape where you are going to cut. Cut through the tape, it keeps the edges from fraying.

On cutting that butcher block... It will pull to the right if you don't have the blade 100% aligned with the plate. The smoking is because as you cut through, the wood will pinch the blade. The chipout you saw is because of the way a circular saw cuts. It cuts from bottom to top -- so if your nice side is face up, then you need to either (or both) .. masking tape down where you want to cut and/or use a thin piece of sacrificial board on top to help reduce it. (Table and mitre saws rotate the opposite direction, btw). Wonderful video and great build!

would place a piece of wooden panel against the wall screwed in to the studs so you can screw in the supports of your desk to alot stronger material as you already crushed the drywall it wil only continu to sink in to the wall those supports in the long run

Definitely make sure to reinforce the brackets in the wall with a bit more than just cardboard bro, that's only going to be a very temporary fix.
I'd recommend getting a a wooden plate that you can screw into the studs, and then screw the brackets into that. It'll add more strength, it won't crush the drywall, and also helps with sound dampening.
