Why Quantity Time May Be More Important Than Quality Time

Quantity time is the only way to actually create quality time. Maybe that's the hidden blessing right now - spending quality time with family, spending quality time with your spouse. Even spending time on FaceTime or over the phone with friends near and far.

Because we always talk about quality time, don’t we? But in a go-go-go world, is quality really enough? No matter how focused and present we are, doesn’t volume have to come into play somewhere? Now's the time it can.

Our deepest, most meaningful relationships in our life happen over time. It's how we learn to understand our partner, our children. It's how we get to know someone, and how we get others to open up to us. Developing relationships isn't an overnight thing.

In quiet moments. Not necessarily at chic soirees or busy brunches. Closeness forms in the quiet spaces where we just… coexist. Sometimes in silence or doing nothing special at all, like watching TV. Or laying on the sofa with headphones on during an hour long conversation on the phone. Being together - in whatever capacity - on its own is meaningful.

The best investment of your life may be in the form of some real, undivided attention. Who could use some of yours right now—could you ask someone you care about?

It’s called commitment.

With all my love, 💕

Susie
