After becoming stuck in a hole 18 inches wide and 150 feet under ground, rescue crews worked frantically and heroically to free him. This is the story inspired by not only the incident at Nutty Putty, but by the way John lived his entire life.

The scariest thing about this is John Jones’s body was still in the cave when they sealed it. It’s still there to this day January 30th 2019. 10 years later. Let that sink in.

The movie shows the situation not as tragic as it actually was. I get why they made it like this, to be more emotional being able to see and talk to his family but what really happened is horrifying. John started searching for the birth canal, a very tight passage in the cave. He went in head first into what he thought was the birth canal but he was actually at a different hole in the cave which was an unexplored section. It was actually a dead end but he didn't know. John realised after a bit that he was stuck in that spot and couldn't turn around to get out of the hole he was in. Rescuers could have been able to get him out of there but his next move was his biggest mistake that lead to his tragic death. He exhaled all of his breath to make his chest smaller so he could go further. When he breathed out and his chest extended he got permanently stuck head first in there, so it was pretty much impossible to pull him out. He couldn't see his family for 27 hours, just hear their voices praying for him. He couldn't move a muscle and couldn't breath properly and being is so much pain. Only darkness. His family and rescuers could only see his black shoes. No-one deserves that crap. After 27 painful hours, he finally took his last breath and died in there. The entrance was sealed with cement and his remains still exist in that hole. What a horrible way to die, I'm really sorry that he had to go through all that just to die. He made a mistake that costed him his life. Sad thing is he had a family too his wife, one child alive and one on the way. Rest In Peace John Jones. May he finally relax and we hope he is in a better place.

We all know this must be his biggest mistake in his life. i really feel sorry for John, i can imagine his situation... he must be so scared, non stop regreting his desicion, thinking of his beloved family, thinking why this is happening to him... well I hope everyone learn from this tragic incident. I went caving in Pennsylvania once back in college. I had little to no experience but it was the 90s so the group I was in didn’t mind. Anyway, I remember being in a similarly tight crevice and will never forget the feeling of panic when I felt stuck for a moment, pressing my muscles against millions of pounds of rock as if I could expand the passage. I managed to wriggle myself out but will never forget that feeling of terror.

I remember this story and how just the thought of being stuck like that stressed me out! This man had a beautiful family and bright future! It was a stupid mistake he made but it was a mistake! Damn I almost cried watching this. I heard about john's story yesterday on facebook and it showed a diagram of where he was trapped and why they couldn't get him out. It was absolutely terrifying.
