I place a bottle cap with a cotton ball soaked in rosemary oil in the pots. My cats kept eating them. One whiff and they back away.

My cats just destroyed my rose clippings I had been growing all month. They were special since they came from a special rose bush that you can't find anymore. I'm trying not to hold it against them, but it meant a lot that I could get them to root. I really hope the bigger one didn't loose it's roots or both will be dead. I was doing so well and felt so proud that I could grow something and my cats destroyed them.

Thank you so much for this video! My cat rarely eats leaves but we recently adopted 2 young kittens and one of them is notorious for nibbling every single plant I have, and she deliberately makes eye contact with me while doing it like an evil little gremlin because she knows she isn't allowed to eat it. Luckily her health is still fine and we moved the more toxic plants out of her reach but we don't have the storage for most of our plants and there is nowhere to hang them in our rented apartment! I will definitely try using strong scents.

Ha, my cat's favorite toys are Q-tips. He will open bathroom cabinets to get them. :) I finally gave up and am keeping only plants he doesn't like.

Great tips! In the spring when I was starting bulbs and tubers inside I would slice oranges and lay them on top of the soil. It worked to keep my kitties away. Thank you for sharing!

Yeah I made the mistake of moving the refreshed cat grass too soon. I have shelves around my cat condo for cat grass planters. And yesterday morning cats got into it and dug it all up leaving a big mess of dirt everywhere. Start the cat grass in a safe place and don't put in the cats range until it's fully growing. This means I'm rotating planters about every 2 weeks. 5 pound bag seeds cheap on Amazon.

Omg im going to try the natural fragrance and try giving him his own plant. Its encouraging to see you have a tree. I couldn't get one because my cat always nibbles on my monstera

Thank you! Gonna try the strong smell, like garlic. My 3 poor ivy starts!! I adopted a MommmaCat and four babies. The babies do this. Water bottle (spray) helps.

I always had cats and a lot of plants. they always coexisted peacefully but now I adopted two kittens and they're climbing on the palms and they fall and dig the shit out of the pots😭 they're raptors
I took the toxic plants away but do you still have any tips?

Any tips on how to prevent a cat from eating a monstera? I'm thinking of getting a stand so it's less lower to the ground

It's not pretty, but I've used tinfoil to discourage my cat from going in large plants. I was visiting friends and she kept using them as a litterbox. 😳 Definitely have to try the vinegar tip, she likes to eat our plants if we're not home. What was with the peppermint treatment potentially causing pneumonia?

This video alone just made you another sub! Thank you so much for the tips! 💚We have 6 cats: 2 nib on absolutly every plant, 1 has his crazy cat days (also I'm pretty sure he's close to learning how to fly... >_>), 1 has her "I'm feeling sick need plant medicine" days and there are 2 little angels that don't even care. Tomorrow I'll start using MANY of your tips! Fingers crossed!

i dont have a cat but i plan on getting one eventually. when that happens I'm just gonna give them cat grass as a sacrifice. i also want to have a 1m x 1m x 3 m glass terrarium/greenhouse to host a lot of my plants. so unless that cat can phase through glass, I don't think it'll go after my plants.

"unless your cat can fly"... Well.... 😂 Jokes aside, i have a whole room where i grow both aquaponically and with regular soil. My cat has never really had any issues leaving it all alone until recently, when i switched out last seasons 13cm (~1L soil) diameter pots with 37cm diameter pots (~25L soil). During the night she had digging in 3 of them, and the day after - even though i thought i kept a watchful eye - 2 more.

I do not want to use scents, and i really do not want to ban her from the room, as the spot in front of the fish tank is by far her favorite. I have already been considering semi large decorative stones on top of the soil, so i am really glad to see that this has been working for you. Other options could be netting or similar, but as some of the plants are tobacco plants, i also need easy access to them (my cat does not care for the plants themselves, so there is no risk there).

Anyway, i will try the stones method and hopefully that will be the solution. It should actually also help keep evaporation of moisture in the pots to a minimum, so maybe thats a double win :)
