Should you be getting a total or a partial knee replacement surgery?

It really depends on how bad your knee arthritis is AND whether your surgeon is trained in doing both. Partial knee replacement surgery is not done by all knee surgeons since it is an advanced surgery.

Most knee surgeons are well trained in doing total knee replacements as it is the most common type of knee replacement surgery.

But if it's right for your situation, you may benefit from having a partial knee replacement.

In this video, Dr. David explains the difference between a partial knee replacement and a total knee replacement.

Keep in mind that there is nearly always a root muscle imbalance that is not identified by surgeons or physical therapists. This muscle imbalance can be corrected without knee surgery and it may allow you to avoid having a total or partial knee replacement. Dr. David shares extensively about this on this channel.

Thank you for this explanation. My 38 year old daughter, having had both miniscule and acl surgery in the past, has had partial recommended

Oh my! No wonder it's such a painful recovery! I was told 10 years ago I could have a knee replacement any time I requested, but I definitely do not want it now.

Any time you can avoid multiple surgeries is good. Health care providers don't talk about it but approximately 1/3 of deaths in hospitals are due to secondary infections that turn into sepsis.

thank you for these video's i am 59 in Alaska and was obese but in good shape now i have been doing knee injections for 3 years now, i have a special needs kid that needed me available immediately when needed he is doing so much better now and able to manage his life more without my help the hospital i go to have been pressuring me to get total knee replacement for 3 years but since i have lost a ton of weight my knees are doing so much better i still have to baby side step stairs up and down and i totally get muscle imbalance as i slipped and fell years ago and hurt my knees, so i am conflicted on what i should do, totally knee replacement sounds like to much to me i am starting to get more exercise and feeling a bit better but i worry about slipping and falling up here in the winter with knee replacements.
