The winter storm is not severe enough to fail the entire state, the system is.

This literally happened in February 2011 and a probe was conducted with recommendations of how to fix it but here we are.

Its very clear that the governor is trying to deflect from his own incompetence and failure. He is the one who appointed the commission who oversees ERCOT! So hes responsible for the oversight to begin with!

The idea that the cold was worse than expected is absurd. Meteorologists were salivating for a week about this front.

Why does he need to call for a probe, if he's governor who appoints commission that oversees ERCOT? He's responsible for the oversight.

Everything's bigger in Texas, especially the power outages

I don't care if he "calls for" a probe I care if he actually starts a probe.

Mismanagement. Once politicians are elected, they refuse to manage. All over the USA it’s the same old story.

Governor Abbott it is your responsibility to see to Texas. Period. You didn't.

The issue is that the state wants to opt-out of federal power regulations by making sure that its power grid doesn't go across state lines. They do this so they don't have to meet the rules that the government requires to attempt to avoid situations like this. The biggest issue in-state that's causing this problem is that the natural gas power plants can't receive shipments because of the roads. They don't have a plan to deal with it when the trucks can't drive. If they were to open up their power grid to the rest of the nation, then their power needs could be supplemented by their neighbors and this wouldn't be happening. This is the result of an attempt to save money by the state, and its people are paying for it. Also anyone who says that this is somehow "green" energy's fault is straight up lying to you to make a political statement. The wind turbines are actually producing more power than they usually do in the state. The few cases where the turbines are failing is due to the fact that Texas doesn't properly maintain and insulate them like would be required if they followed the laws that they are circumventing mentioned above. States far north of Texas have wind turbines that are spinning just fine.

They should have a class action lawsuit going. Time to get generators. The GOVERNOR has the final sign off. HE IS RESPONSIBLE. What probe? Give us all a break
